YouTube Search Engine Optimization
SEO Techniques
YouTube search engine marketing is something that many online businesses don’t spend enough time on. If you are working on a marketing campaign, you should dedicate some time to YouTube SEO. It’s the 3rd largest website in the world, after Google and Facebook. This provides an almost unlimited potential for traffic. You also have the opportunity to acquire targeted traffic through this video giant, since users will have to enter specific keywords they are interested in to find your video.
Here are some strategies for YouTube SEO:
When someone enters a keyword in Google or Bing, they might not be interested in watching a video. Some topics are explained better with words rather than with videos or audio. You can test out different keywords to see which ones lead to videos being on the first page of search results. If you see that they do, then you know that it’s a keyword you can use for your own video.
Put focus on YouTube ranking factors, which differ somewhat from Google ranking factors. If you understand the ranking factors, you’ll know how to best optimize your video pages. Ranking factors include:
Put focus on making your video as interesting as possible so that people will be more likely to share it with others.
The great thing about YouTube is that it allows you to include a call-to-action button embedded in your video that viewers can click on. You can also include the CTA in the summary. Whether you want people to visit your website, view your other videos, share something on Facebook or Twitter, etc.., it’s important to have a CTA button/link.
The summary should contain plenty of information about what the video contains and what viewers can learn from it. You should insert a few keywords and your website URL. However, don’t make the summary TOO long, as people are visiting the site to watch and not to read.
Like the summary, the title should contain a keyword. It should be concise and informative. Keep the character count less than 70. You do not want to write a title that will trick users into viewing your video. It should honestly describe what the video is about. If viewers end up disappointed over the video, the will not share it and will “dislike” it. This can harm your company’s reputation.
The more people watch your video, the higher it will rank. However, you must get them to watch the video in its entirety. In order to do this, make the video interesting. Keep it no longer than two or three minutes. It should not just be an advertisement – it should be an informative video that shows and explains how to do a particular task relating to your industry. You don’t want to give EVERYTHING away, or they won’t feel the need to visit your site to learn more. You do, however, want to give just enough away that they are interested in sharing the video with friends and visiting your website.
Using these YouTube search engine optimization techniques will not only help bring traffic to your site, it will help you build your brand.
