Bad SEO Habits To Stay Away From Identify Your Bad...
There are a lot of online marketing myths and misconceptions out there. These misconceptions can cause start-up entrepreneurs to either overestimate or underestimate their potential to make money. It’s not easy to have a realistic outlook with so many myths floating around.
Do you think you might have fallen victim to some of the myths about online marketing? Here is a look at the most common ones and the truth behind them.
Having a sound strategy for one tactic is better than going into several of them blindly. Don’t just start randomly posting on a blog, sending out a bunch of tweets, or posting on a bunch of forums and on Facebook randomly. Do your research and come up with a strategy that will allow you to establish yourself as an expert in your industry. Don’t just start spamming everywhere. All of these internet marketing tactics are important, but you need to learn about them one at a time so that you can do them the right way.
Don’t make your posts and tweets all about you; make them about the customer as well. Think about what they want first. What will they be interested in reading? Will the information be informative enough for them to want to share? It’s okay to promote new products and deals, but don’t go overboard with the promotion – you don’t want to be accused of spamming.
While ranking #1 for popular search terms is great, you can still get plenty of visitors to your site or blog without being #1. There are more obscure, less popular keywords you can use. Advertising with long tail keywords is helpful too. Long tail search terms make up a large percentage of search traffic.
Google changes their algorithms on a regular basis. Nobody knows exactly what they will be looking for a year from now or two years from now. Keep in mind that countless sites are banned or penalized on a daily basis, so many of the sites showing up today won’t be there tomorrow. If you do everything correctly and create a good website with original, high-quality content, then you’re on the right track.
Quality content is far more important than quantity. Having a lot of content will do you no good if it isn’t well-written and informative. You MUST establish yourself as an expert if you want other websites and bloggers to link to your site.
This is probably the worst myth because it keeps people from even trying. Online marketing CAN work and you CAN make money online, you just need to know how to do it correctly. Doing it correctly requires being able to differentiate between the online marketing myths and reality.
