What Can We Expect From Magento 2.1?

Magento 2.1

Learn About New Product

In April, Magento held its annual customer event Imagine in Las Vegas. Representatives from the company announced a number of developments. One of the most newsworthy is the release of Magento 2.1. Read on to learn more about this new product and what it means for you.

Content Staging and Preview

With other e-commerce platforms, you may need to rely on the IT department to post or preview content updates. The Enterprise Edition of Magento 2.1 makes that a thing of the past.

Magento 2.1’s Enterprise Edition allows vendors to stage, preview, and update content such as promotions, products and categories. Moreover, a timeline dashboard shows all scheduled updates. An entire marketing team can see it, so members can coordinate campaigns. In addition, users can share links to scheduled content updates across teams. And, you can preview changes in checkout to ensure promotions work properly.

This enterprise version of Magento automatically publishes updates, and it will remove them when they are no longer relevant.

PayPal Enhancements

Another feature of Magento’s Enterprise Edition 2.1 is a better PayPal experience for customers.

Shoppers can pay through PayPal without ever leaving the merchant’s Magento storefront. In a study conducted by PayPal, checkout conversion rates increased 69 basis points when shoppers didn’t have to leave a site to pay.

Vendors will now be able to store customer credit card information through PayPal, too. This means shoppers can check out faster and as a result, they’ll come back frequently.

Simpler PCI Compliance

PCI compliance keeps consumers and merchants safe. Magento’s Enterprise Edition 2.1 makes PCI compliance even easier.

There are fields hosted by the payment processor Braintree, so the company can collect payment information directly from vendors. Merchants will then qualify for the simplest level of PCI compliance. Braintree only replaces certain fields, though, so vendors still have control over the checkout experience.

Elasticsearch

The Enterprise Edition of Magento 2.1 comes with Elasticsearch, search technology that Magento claims will increase conversion rates.

Elasticsearch supports 33 languages out of the box. Vendors can set stop words, search synonyms, and attribute weighting so shoppers receive the most relevant search results.

Magento’s search technology can handle large catalogs and scales up to handle business growth. Vendors can configure it themselves to begin seeing results.

Administrator Enhancements

The latest release of Magento brings enhanced administrative control features, making it easier for merchants to run their online stores.

A search feature helps users find customer and order information quickly. It’s now also simpler to set up search synonyms across many sites at once. Magento’s developers have redesigned forms to make it faster to create new products, content, and categories.

Magento’s products have been helping vendors maximize their e-commerce sites since the company’s founding. Version 2.1 of its flagship product makes it easier for marketing team members to collaborate, leading to more successful campaigns, higher conversion rates, and increased revenues. Yet again, Magento has demonstrated its commitment to providing a fantastic e-commerce experience for all.
