How Can I Get Bing Search Traffic?

While Bing may not be as popular as Google, it’s still a great source of traffic. Combined with Yahoo!, it gets approximately 30% of the search market share. If you are including these two search engines in your internet marketing campaign, you are off to a good start. There are still many entrepreneurs and internet companies that overlook Bing/Yahoo completely and rely on Google for organic search traffic.

Just as with Google, however, it isn’t easy to achieve high rankings through Bing. If you’re not seeing the results you want, you might want to try some of these tips for increased search traffic:

Make sure you’re doing SEO correctly

The fundamentals of search engine optimization don’t really differ from one search engine to the next. How the crawlers work and how pages are indexed might vary a bit, but the basics of a “good” SEO strategy are still the same. If you’re currently working on website optimization, make sure you’re doing it correctly. If you’re not seeing any results from Bing, you might need to make some improvements.

Use BING’s PPC Platform

With this advertising platform, you get two search engines in one. The Yahoo!-Bing Network reaches many, many people – and not just through searches. Anyone with a Microsoft account, including XBOX users, can potentially see your ads. Since there is less competition with this platform than there is with Google Ads, the cost for many keywords is less expensive.

Take Advantage of BING Webmaster Tools

If you haven’t used these webmaster tools yet, it’s in your best interest to do so. There are many helpful tools to help online businesses with their marketing campaigns. They will help you understand where and how you need to make improvements to your website. The tools range from translator widgets to keyword finders.

Pay close attention to reports and data

Bing lets you look over data pertaining to your traffic. There is a Reports & Data section in the Webmaster Tools that includes a site activity chart. You can look over information about specific dates. The following metrics are available for you to look over: number of clicks from searches, number of pages crawled, number of impressions your page has received, and crawl errors. By looking over all of this data, you can get an idea of what you are doing right and what you are doing incorrectly.

Upload and verify sitemaps

The great thing about Bing is that it supports sitemaps in different formats: XML, RSS 2.0, ATOM .3 and .01, and even text files! The text files should contain one URL per line. A sitemap plays an important role in SEO and website organization. A sitemaps widget is one of the Webmaster Tools available. You can simply enter the URL of the sitemap and click on “submit”.

Have strong user engagement

User engagement with Bing is one of the biggest ranking factors. It’s measured through what is termed “pogo sticking”, which is essentially the bounce rate. If your site shows up In a search result and the user clicks on your link, then clicks “back” to return to the search results and visits another site instead, this is an indicator of poor user engagement. It will hurt your rankings and as a result, you will receive less traffic.

If you have a high bounce rate, you need to work on providing your visitors with a better experience.
